TWILIGHT!!!

YAY!!! Can I just say that I am soooooo excited for Twilight to come out next week? We got these sweet t-shirts at Hot Topic were they had the Twilight gear for sell. I know that there is no possible way that the movie can come EVEN close to how amazing the book is. I mean, come on. But that doesn't make me any less excited! YAY!!!!

My Lemon Tree

When Life hands me lemons, I say, "Ya, I like lemons. What else ya got??" Feeling pretty confident about handling the lemons, I become a little anxious when Life, taking my smug reply seriously, gives me a lemon tree. Yes, a tree. Not just a couple of lemons, easy enough to handle, but a full grown mountain of a specimen. My tree is placed front and center for every one to see, gossip about, and ridicule and his pleasure. Despairingly, I am at a loss. Harsh whisperings from my peers are tossed around by the wind, reaching me and influencing my subconscious mind. However, I finally come to the conclusion that it was MY question that caused it, and only I can face up to it. Sitting around, wallowing in self pity will get me nowhere, so I decide to make the best of my plight by creating lemonade! I squeeze the lemons, occasionally asking for help from professional lemonade creators, and essentially do the best I can. At last my creation is finished. It is time to taste the tantalizing liquid gold. I slowly raise the chilled glass to my lips and with excited anticipation take a swig. GROSS!! My bitter masterpiece is a failure. With a heavy heart I go through the tedious process of making my drink fit for human consumption. From every side comes DUN DUN DUN.....advice. Some say less sugar; some say more sugar. Some say, "What the heck were you thinking??? You should have made lemon meringue!!!" With all this "counsel", my head swims. I know what I should have done: not asked the pompous question in the first place. But that is water under the bridge, and I must now face the lake I have created. I realize that, while their advice may be valid for their trees, they do not have my lemons. They have oranges, grapes, or cherries. I can NOT make lemonade out of oranges, grapes, or cherries. The only real guidance comes from Life. Therefore, I do what should have been done in the beginning. I turn to Life, arriving like the prodigal child, and humbly ask for assistance. With the patience and love of one that truly knows me, Life gently leads the way. Through the help of Life, I will not only prune my lemon tree into something respectable, but also produce the best lemonade known to mankind. It will take awhile. I mean, after all, my tree is still with me. But Life's calming presence is like a soothing balm, and I know everything will once again be alright.

The Ends of Beginnings

With every beginning, there is an ending slowly fading into the past. With the beginnings of childhood come the ends of infancy. With the beginnings of adulthood comes the end of our carefree childhood. The ends of adulthood lead on to the "distinguished" age. Each of these different periods in our lives brings with it unique challenges, fears, and excitements. Looking back to my elementary years, my only fear was having attention brought on me. Little things that seem so trivial now, were major moments then. What does that tell me? That some of the things that seem so significant at the present, will one day fade into hazy recollections, filing away into the recesses of my mind along with my other past memories. Little wisps of smoke, showing themselves occasionally, to let me know my memory is still at my command. At times I wonder if I should mourn each passing. Each age gets harder, with more complex difficulties. Sometimes I feel like Peter Pan, never wanting to grow up and have the hardships, disappointments, mistakes, and responsibilities that come with it. As a child, there are really no ways to seriously mess up. Yet, would I be content just staying, never progressing? It may seem simpler to never move ahead, but human nature tends to in no way be pacified by the present. It is always looking forward to a time where there will be better, new, and exciting adventures. So I will not mourn, but I will hold my memories close. I cannot stay, I have to continue on. Sadness that I must grow up will occasionally hit me, but this is the way of life. I will with fondness wave goodbye to the ends of my past beginnings, and with hope and anticipation greet my new beginning. This is the way with everything, the dregs of ends leading on to bright new beginnings.

A Passage of Time

With the coming and going of each day, a sense of routine has formed that I have come to rely on with comfortable familiarity. My day begins with a relaxing shower, followed by a restricted amount of time to both physically and mentally prepare myself to face the world. Breakfast with my family comes next. After I've fed my body, I subsequently must feed my spirit also. A good dose of seminary is just the thing, and I am off to school. Seconds, minutes, hours in different class rooms pass until the buzzing of the re leaser is heard. Now, it is time to put my emotions/feelings to movements and music: dance practice. Here, I leave behind all my worries and fears as the steady hum of music compels my body to move with it, beating down my defenses until I must physically pacify the desire. After this, I return to my haven; a place I call home, where the world is blocked out and I am surrounded with constant affirmations of love by those who know me best. Upon arrival, I am greeted with a nutritious meal, handmade and emitting smells that would make even a vampire crave food. At last, I return to my bed, where I rest and prepare myself for the next day of my habitual existence.

What am I??

I'm Cupid's top seller, a broken hearts best friend, and the number one cause for the increase of hip sizes in US citizens. I'm like a Dove in flight; a Symphony of perfectly orchestrated flavors combined into one mouthwatering refuge. I can be a liquid or a solid, hot or cold, hard or creamy. Dentists love my consequences, while parents hate paying for them. I can be sugar full, sugar-free, or sugar-added. I'm desired by everyone, yet the scales say to avoid me.
What am I??

THE MUMMY!!!

Here are my bandages! For y'all that don't know, we had a canning accident and I had a pot of boiling water accidentally dumped on my legs. It happened so fast and the next thing I knew, my mom was stripping me down and throwing me into the shower. I think the scariest part was when I looked down and my skin was falling off. Gross huh? I heard the most bloodcurdling, death-at-your-doorstep sound. It finally registered that that sound was coming from me. A screech that will haunt me. The ambulance finally got there. Now, I would like everyone to know that I am a modest person, and normally, having my tush on display for what felt like the whole world would be mortifying. But, the pain was so intense I didn't care. So now, I am well prepared for having a baby. I think people say that to comfort me, because I've heard that a lot in the past week. Little do they know! My uncle gave me a blessing at the hospital. I am so grateful for that. I know I wouldn't be doing near as well as I am if not for that. So now I lay on the couch, with a drugged smile. We are weening me off of the heavy meds (yay!). I really don't understand how people can take those...yuck. The doctor says that it is healing very well. They had to tear off the skin last time because my blister popped. It was so gross and they had to hurry and give me a shot for the pain. I never knew I was scared of needles until last year..and now I'm terrified! Anyways, moral of the story....don't wish too hard for things! I really did not want to go to school, and look! I don't have to!! The Lord has a funny sense of humor, don't ya think? Also, I was told by a certain young man not to shave my legs or shower for two years...little did he know! Two weeks isn't the same but that's long enough for me! I have been really blessed through out all of this. People have been so kind. And I've had 5-star assistance from my family and aunts. You guys are so great! Thank you so much for all that have helped me! You're the best!!!
(The top picture is of one of the blisters on my calf. It has since popped and been replaced by several others covering my whole calf. They keep multiplying by insane numbers! Gross)
